Wanted: Female movie star!

​Hi everyone,

an exciting ​opportunity for a TS Canberra cadet (female) who is interested in STEM. If you think this is you can you let me know no later than 29 Sep 19.  Make sure you have checked with your parents as I will need to get parental permission as well as the parent/guardian being available to travel). Read below for more details:

Defence Force Recruiting is looking for a female Navy cadet from TS Canberra to be involved in making a Cadet needs to be engaging and relatable to an audience aged 10 to 13 years. DFR PR will also be funding for a guardian/parent to accompany them.
Summary of requirement
Defence Force Recruiting seeks a female Australian Navy Cadet to take part in a project focused on fostering a love of science, technology and mathematics amongst young Australians.
DFR has committed to delivering two video resources for the Engineering is Elementary (EiE) unit, ‘Taking the Plunge: Designing Submersibles (ocean engineering)’ https://eie.org/eie-curriculum/curriculum-units/taking-plunge-designing-submersibles.
The story-boards for these videos are enclosed. Defence needs to identify two young people who are engaging and relatable to an audience aged 10 to 13 years. They must have an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and reside in or near Canberra, Sydney or Perth.
The nominated cadets learning experience will be filmed and shared in classrooms across Australia via:
·         The Questacon online teaching resources website https://eie.org/sites/default/files/resource/file/sci_sb.pdf  
·         Questacon and Defence You Tube channels.
·         Potentially Australian media (Ministerial launch in Feb 2020)
The nominated cadets will appear in civilian dress and be captioned by their first name, age and aspiring career (e.g. aspiring engineer)
 
Key Points
Nominated Female cadet, aged approx. 15, need to:
·         Be engaging and relatable to an audience aged 10 to 13 years.
·         Be available to take part in filming between 7 Oct 19 – 8 Nov 19, specific dates in this window to be advised.
·         Have parental approval to take part and have their image used for this joint Questacon/Defence product which may receive media attention
·         Be accompanied by a parent, or nominated adult, at DFR Public Affairs (PA) expense, to any interstate shoots.
 
Hydraulic Challenge
We require a female cadet to feature in a video alongside Navy Lieutenant Harry Hubbert (Engineer). This video will explore an engineering question, how can you move and grab objects underwater. The nominated cadet will have the opportunity to undertake elements of the lesson at Questacon before visiting the Navy Innovation Hub to learn about how hydraulic arms work and watch one retrieve something.
·         She will attend one shoot in Canberra at Questacon, King Edward Terrace, Parkes ACT 2600, date and time TBA within the window identified.
·         She will also attend one shoot in Sydney at Navy bases HMAS Penguin (Middle Head Road Mosman NSW) and HMAS Kuttabul (18 Wylde St, Potts Point NSW)
o   Travel to Sydney the night prior if Canberra based
o   Expect to return home following filming on date TBA.
